30.01.08 It's Near Fucking February...

Already,

Well that flew a bit quicker than I intended... or would have liked. Though I did get the year off to a good start. In the studio Josh Geffin tracking some of the songs for the album with drummer Joe Price and myself on bass. A couple more tracks to do and a few overdubs but everything is moving along nicely.

Also continued work with Nick Gold and Jerry Boys on the latest release from World Circuit mixing some of the tracks as well as starting the second record from Joe Stilgoe for Candid records. Amazing singer and he can play the piano a bit too. We'll be mixing that in a couple of weeks so if you like a bit of good Jazz, piano trio style with a helping of horns then keep your ears out. Jamie Cullum eat your shoes out.

17.01.08 Happy New Year!!

A little late I know, but we've been busy here y'know. January kicked off with me helping out Sonny at Livingston Studios recording Josh Geffin. Really good stuff and i'm sure Sonny will be posting soon to tell you more about it.

Minus IQ's debut album is now completely finished. Recorded (by myself), mixed (by Mr John Gallen) and is being mastered at Alchemy tomorrow. Hurrah! It's sounding pretty damn fine if I do say so myself. They are looking at a spring release date but i'm sure there will be some singles flying about in the very near future.

Silvery are back in next week to finish mixing their debut album for Blow Up Records. Really looking forward to that. We've already mixed the first single - a double A side featuring the songs Horrors and Orders. The single is out on the 3rd of March with the album to follow. Exciting stuff. The video for Horrors can be found here - Silvery Horrors Video - which I highly recommend having a peek at as it is a work of genius!

Lots of love

12.12.07 Oumou Sangare

After a couple of weeks mixing with Nick and Jerry on the latest Oumou Sangaré album, they've let me loose on the console again to mix one of the most difficult tracks ever know to man. It's like mixing two completely different songs together... but all is good. Keep an eye out for the record though as it'll be another blinder from World Circuit.

01.12.07 Josh Geffin

Everything is starting to move nicely now. Josh and I have been working on finding a drummer and we've gone and chosen a young whipper snapper of a drummer Joe Price. We're nearly up to speed with all the songs and everything is starting to sound even better than it did.

We're nearly sorted with Amiina for the record too. Sigur Ros's string quartet, Amiina are ideal for the project to give a quirky sound. Hopefully we'll be going over to Iceland to record them in and old wooden church.

Portico Quartet Album Launch... Yey

Well, I'm feeling a little worse for wear this morning, but don't mind after such a great night. The record the guys from Portico Quartet and I made (in 6 days) was launched last night on Vortex/Bable Label. They played a superb gig at St Barnabas Church, Soho, to a select audience... and brought the roof down.

You can now buy the album (CD or High Quality Download) from The Bable Label Wesite, http://www.babellabel.co.uk/ or from all reputable record stores (let's face it if they don't have it, they aren't reputable).

Josh Geffin... continues

I've been working with singer/songwriter Josh Geffin on his debut album. We've been working through the songs and writing a bit. Josh is about to go on tour with Amiina, Sigur Ros's String quartet. Check his site www.joshgeffin.com for gig details. We'll be continuing with the album when he gets back so stay tuned.

Minus IQ
Well it was sure was busy here this month. Those rapscallions from Minus IQ (http://www.myspace.com/minusiq) were back for the last round of tracking for their upcoming album. I predict greatness for them. Watch this space.

Data Puddle

Alex and Steve from Datapuddle (http://www.myspace.com/datapuddle) came to finish off their album tracks. A few extra overdubs and several mixes later and we were wrapped. Mandolins, harmonicas, e-bowed bass, looped electronic strangeness and songs about ghosts. What more could you ask for! It was a lot of fun to record these guys as we very rarely took the traditional route for tracking. Much fun.

Silvery Is Done...

The tracking for the Silvery (http://www.myspace.com/silverytheband) debut album is all done and dusted. 13 tracks of perfect insanity as only these gentlemen can pull off. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos of James doing his vocals dressed as a Victorian sailor, so I’ll leave it to your imagination.
